阿旃陀石窟位于孟买东北方，是印度最重要的佛教石窟，建于公元前2世纪至公元6世纪。保存许多雕像和壁画，其中壁画大多画于五六世纪的笈多王朝时期，是印度古代最优秀的绘画。阿旃陀石窟的雕塑和壁画对当时的中国和东南亚的佛教石窟有很大影响。
